Proverbs 19:21 When God Says No

This past spring we decided that we wanted to move out of the home of 13 years. Our family has changed and so have our needs.

So, the house went up on the market-for 5 months! It wouldn’t sell, despite Facebook ads, open houses and under pricing.

We did everything we could to sell the house. We were very prayerful from beginning to end. Honestly, we expected a “yes” from God.

That’s not what we got.

After much debate and last ditch efforts, we took it off the market.

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” ~Proverbs 19:21

The next morning the kids and I were talking about the house not selling on the way to school.

My son, matter-of-factly said, “God said, ‘No.'”

The car grew quiet. I think we were all pondering his words.

I eventually broke the silence with, “I think you’re right, buddy. He must have something else in mind.”

I don’t know what that something else is yet. I don’t know why the answer was no…but God does. I choose to trust the One who knows all things.

Can you think of a time the answer was no? How did you respond?
