Why do I have an anxious heart?

Why do we get anxious hearts? Where does that come from? Anxiety or fear is a common emotion we experience. When we are faced with difficult times, we are more likely to experience fearful thoughts. The word that I think is more fitting is uncertainty. Times of trouble create uncertainty about our future, our security and safety. Is this resonating? When uncertainty is an unfortunate addition to difficulties our brain wants to create certainty. We do this by filling in the gaps of missing information. This is how our brains are wired. The problem comes when we fill in those gaps with worst case scenarios or other negative assumptions. I have a better idea of what you can fill in those gaps of missing information with…Truth! Not just any Truth, but Truth filled with certainty- that means we turn to God’s Word. How do we exchange fear for faith?…

How do I exchange fear for faith?

When we are trying to fill in the gaps with worst case scenarios, we are actually only making guesses. However, what if we used a firm foundation of Truth and filled in the gaps with certainty as our way of overcoming fear? For example, in our ever changing world- God doesn’t change. There are so many comforting Bible verses about God’s character and promises. We can exchange the fear of what lay ahead for the certainty of God and His promises for His people. The list of Bible verses to overcome fear below are some vital truths to which we can cling. Let’s focus on the goodness of God instead of the fear that comes with the uncertain.
