Spiritual growth leads to spiritual maturity. Growing in spiritual maturity is growth in our relationship with Jesus- As we grow spiritually we depend more and more on the One through Whom everything is held together (Colossians 1:17). 7 Reasons to Ask Questions for Spiritual Growth

1. Helps us fix our eyes on Jesus.

Questions for spiritual growth intentionally helps us fix our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2). When we pause and ponder complex questions we begin to take stock and honestly evaluate the answers. As we assess the personal answers, direction is provided. Life is busy- it is easy to fall into the temptation of distraction and shift our focus away from Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. The One who gave us life and calls us to keep our eyes on the eternal rather than the temporal. Additionally, having direction provides insight into areas of much needed growth.

2. Increases dependence on Him in prayer.

Some of the questions for spiritual growth may reveal a need to for greater dependence on God through prayer. The world would have you believe that you are accomplishing much on your own merit, however God’s Word is clear- He is working in us and through us, always! As you spend time reflecting on areas of your life that need “God strength”, offer it up to Him in prayer. He can do more in a single moment that we can do in a lifetime.

3. Moved to contemplate His Word.

As you navigate the questions for spiritual growth, it naturally lends to contemplating His Word. It stirs up a hunger for more of Him in Scripture. Scripture is where we learn more about His character, His promises, His plans and purpose. Faith comes by hearing the Word (Romans 10:17), therefore- get in the Word!

4. Ponder His might works.

Reflecting on the questions for spiritual growth also cause us to praise the Most High. Our busy world has us constantly moving on to the next thing…whatever that may be. Days are packed full of tasks. Pausing and reflecting on all God has done in your life moves our eyes to Jesus and moves us to praise Him.

5. Grows faith.

As we ponder His might works in our lives and all around us, our faith is grown. As a result, we are acknowledging just how big God is-powerful and good. Knowing just how big He is, enlarges our faith in Him. He is trustworthy and true-able to do anything in our lives.

6. Relationships and unity in Christ are strengthened.

Journaling the questions for spiritual growth also causes us to think about our relationships. God’s Word guides us in relationships and promotes unity in Christ. His Word also helps us navigate the difficult relationships and set limits as needed.

7. Helps us step into our calling.

The Bible is full of information about all that God calls us to do in our daily life, relationships, and so much more. The better I get to know the Word, the better I get at stepping into my calling. His Word guides and corrects us. Consequently providing everything we need to lean into our calling.
