42 Important Things to Pray for Everyday
Before we get into things to pray for everyday, I have to confess that praying does not come easy to me. Choosing to be intentional and having a prayer plan has helped me cultivate an effective prayer life. This article is intended to help you create prayer points so you can naturally incorporate prayer in to everyday life. We can pray powerful prayers on a daily basis!
How to Make Prayer Part of Your Daily Routine
A great way to make prayer part of our daily lives is to have a routine during your quiet time. When I have a routine, my habits becomes what I do at specific times. For instance, I wake up in the morning and the first thing I do is spend time in the Word. Before I dive in, I pray for understanding. Afterall, I need His wisdom to navigate His Word. Once I finish my study or devotion, I end in prayer.
There is another thing I have recently incorporated into my prayer life…notecards. The other thing that is challenging for me is staying focused on praying and following through on things I desire to lift up to my Heavenly Father. So I recently grabbed 3×5 notecards and wrote the main topic on one side and the prayer request on the other side. For example, one side might say “unsaved family and friends”. The other side will list the people I want to pray for. This keeps me focused on extended family members and the list of people I want to pray for.
Essential Parts of a Daily Prayer Life
1. Adoration
Psalm 145:1-3 – I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.
Starting prayer with adoration of our Father God is a great way to start your prayers. Praise Him for His attributes. God is good, faithful, loving, peaceful, gracious, merciful and the list goes on and on. Choose a few of His characteristics and praise the Lord to open your prayers. When I open my prayer worshiping God for who He is, my heart is reminded of who He is and who I am in relation to my Heavenly Father.
2. Gratitude
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Be mindful to thank God for the great things He has done in your life. Gratitude is a powerful way to shift the focus from the things that are going wrong (difficult times) to the things that are going right. It naturally boadens our persective to see the big picture. God is good (adoration) and He does good things (gratitude)!
3. Confession
1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Asking for God’s forgiveness is an essential part of our prayer lives. Keeping our heart swept clean is for our good and good for our relationship with God. If you are having trouble recalling what needs forgiveness just ask God to reveal it to you. I find this type of prayer gets the fastest answers!
4. Supplication
Ephesians 6:18 – at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
Supplication is a fancy way to say- make your requests! This is where we start with our list of things to pray for everyday…

Things to Pray for Everyday
Important Things to Pray for Everyday: Relationship with God
Psalm 63:1 – O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
The most important relationship is your relationship with your Heavenly Father. It is from that relationship that the health of all other relationships in your life flow. Ask God to help you rest in His steadfast love. Pray for a hunger for more of Him and that He would take you deeper into His Word and His love.
Salvation
Romans 10:1 – Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.
Pray for the unsaved to come to know a personal relationship with the Lord. It is our greatest mission that we boldly share God’s love with the world through action and deed.
Wisdom and Guidance
James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
This is one of my favorite Bible verses- God’s grace overflows in His generous offer to lavish us with His wisdom. It is that wisdom that will help us discern His will and navigate difficult decisions.
Thanksgiving and Praise
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Choosing to give praise and thanks for the Lord is one of our greatest privileges as children of God. It helps us to direct our attention to the good things before us and to our good, good Father. There is enough bad stuff in the world to flood our hearts. We must be intentional to find the good!
Important Things to Pray for Everyday: Forgiveness
Matthew 6:12 – and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
Coming before the Lord and confessing our sins and forgiving the sins of others keeps our heart in good health. God’s heart is that we would not allow the lack of forgiveness to hold us back or harm us in any way.
Strength and Endurance
Isaiah 40:31 – but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
The strength that comes from God is necessary in our weary world. We are all faced with opposition through spiritual warfare, tough times and uncertain times. Ask God to renew your strength- more strength is definitely one of the things to pray for everyday.
Love and Unity
John 17:20-21 – I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
The enemy loves division. Unity is something we pursue and need God’s help with on a daily basis.
Peace
Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We are invited to trade worry and fear for the peace of God through prayer. Prayerfully make requests with a grateful heart and peace will prevail in your heart.
5 Ways to Have the Peace of God
Joy
Psalm 16:11 – You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Add joy to your list of things to pray for everyday! Everyone can use more joy in their lives. Psalm 16:11 reminds us that in the presence of God we experience fullness of joy. Not to mention that joy is a fruit of the Spirit- ask God to enlarge the fruit of joy in your life.
Faith
Mark 9:24 – Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, ‘I believe; help my unbelief!’
Out of all the things to pray for everyday, more faith is at the top of the list. Maybe even THE most important thing! When we have big faith, it changes everything. Ask God to deepen your faith in His character and His promises. Faith is the beginning of BIG things!
Important Things to Pray for Everyday: Humility
James 4:10 – Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
God’s Word makes it very clear that He delights over a humble heart. Humility allows you to acknowledge your imperfections and deep need for dependence on God.
Protection
Psalm 91:11 – For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
We live in an uncertain world. We also know from Scripture that we have an enemy and face spiritual warfare. Pray for God’s protection to surround you every day.
Healing
James 5:16 – Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
While many read this verse and think of physical healing, expand your view to emotional, relational or spiritual healing. Sharing the areas of your life that you desire healing with other believers leads to the power of prayer by others and for others.
Provision
Philippians 4:19 – And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
If God can create the world, everything in it and provision for His creation, then He can provide for you! Ask God to show you how He is your Provider.
Reconciliation
Matthew 5:23-24 – So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Contentment
Philippians 4:11-13 – Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Another great addition to add to your list of things to pray for everyday is contenment! The benefit of contentment is finding satisfaction and happiness in what you already have, rather than constantly seeking more or feeling a lack.

Notice in this Bible verse how Paul is praying that the Colossians would bear much fruit. You can pray that over yourself and the people in your life as well.

Rest is a requirement in this fast paced world. I often ask God to bless and multiply my rest and quiet time with Him.
Victory over Temptation
1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Temptation of all kinds is something we face living in a fallen world as sinners. Asking God to enable you to resist temptation is one of those things to pray for everday.
