Spending time in God’s Word is how we go about the renewing of our minds. In other words, it’s how we align ourselves with God and Truth. His Word is one of the wonderful ways He equips us to live the Christian life, take thoughts captive and grow spiritually. The Bible is also how we conform to Truth rather than the ways of this world. In other words, it helps up with trading our own beliefs and thoughts with God’s thoughts. Aligning with God’s Word is how we live our best life in any of the circumstances with which we are faced. Renewing your mind literally changes you from the inside out.
What Does Renewing Your Mind Mean?
The dictionary definition of “renew” is to…become new or as new; give fresh life or strength to something. Renewal of the mind is changing into something different and better than before. Renewing of the mind changes the lens through which we believe, think and live.
The first line in Romans 12:2 (see below), “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” The world comes at us all the time and from every angle. If we are not seeking the Truth of God, we will find ourself aligning with the world more than the Truth. In order to align more with Truth, we will need to renew our minds with it! As we renew our minds in the power of the Holy Spirit, we are increasingly equipped to trust God’s promises, live as a new creation and know the perfect will of God.
